Lack of adequate sanitation and proper toilet infrastructure has a huge negative social and environmental impact in India. For example, increased water contamination cases are responsible for 13% deaths in kids, under the age of 5.
Health issues owing to the lack of sanitation, particularly impact rural girls. Girls at the stage of puberty often drop out from school due to lack of basic bathroom facilities. Sanitation problem is primarily responsible for a drop-out figure of a staggering 113 million girls.
What is Banka BioLoo doing about this:
Banka BioLoo has stepped in to combat this growing social and environmental issue. Banka BioLoo installs eco-friendly, economical Bio-toilets in rural areas, where toilets are unavailable. The bio-toilets with bio-digester technology also acts as fecal treatment plant. It decomposes the fecal waste, reducing it up to 90%, to give recycled water and bio-gas.
Banka BioLoo has successfully installed over 10,000+ bio-toilets, across 22+ states in India. Their contribution towards building toilet infrastructure in rural India has not just seen reduction in water-borne diseases, but also improved the attendance rates in rural schools. Safe and hygienic toilet infrastructure allowed more girls to continue their education.
In a survey across schools in Alwar district of Rajasthan, it was found that the attendance rates improved by almost 6% within 3 months from the time of Bio-toilets installation. This survey was done by Banka BioLoo with the Impact Lab of “Business Call to Action” (BCtA).
Impact Lab offers end-to-end impact management solutions for inclusive businesses. As a social-impact champion, Banka BioLoo received training, hands-on support and technical help from the BCtA.
If you have a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mission at your organization, which is in aligned with Sanitation or Sustainability Development Goals, then Banka BioLoo can ensure your CSR budget delivers a positive social-impact for children in rural schools. Your support will help Banka BioLoo continue on its mission of further Sustainability Development Goals for rural India.
