Faecal Sludge And Septage Treatment Plant
The Safest Way to Collect, Treat And Dispose Human Waste.
Our most popular product!
A Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP) is a system designed to safely process and treat faecal sludge and septage, which are by-products of toilets, especially in areas without access to centralized sewer systems. The main objectives of such a plant are to reduce the environmental impact of untreated sewage, prevent the spread of diseases, and often recover resources like water and nutrients.
FSTP: The Game Changer
Reception &
Screening.
Stage 01
This is the first stage where the faecal sludge and septage are received, usually from vacuum trucks. The initial step involves screening to remove large solids, trash, and grit that could interfere with subsequent treatment processes.
Homogenisation & Storage
Stage 02
The screened sludge is then homogenized in a mixing tank to ensure uniformity. This step can also include temporary storage of the incoming sludge to balance the flow and load to the treatment plant.
Thickening &
Sludge Stabilisation
Stage 03
Thickening reduces the volume of the sludge by removing a portion of the water. This can be achieved through gravity settling or mechanical processes. Sludge stabilization follows, which involves biological or chemical processes to reduce the pathogens and organic content in the sludge. Common methods include aerobic digestion, anaerobic digestion, lime stabilization, or composting. This step not only reduces health risks but also prepares the sludge for further treatment or disposal.
Dewatering &
Drying
Stage 04
After stabilization, the sludge is dewatered to further reduce its volume and moisture content. This can be done using belt presses, filter presses, centrifuges, or drying beds. Dewatering makes the sludge easier to handle and transport. In some plants, additional drying might be performed to achieve a higher dry solids content.
Disinfection
Stage 05
Disinfection is an optional but important step, especially if the treated sludge is to be used as a soil conditioner or for agricultural purposes. It involves the elimination of pathogens to make the sludge safe for handling and use. Methods include thermal treatment, chemical disinfection, or prolonged storage under specific conditions.
Final Disposal or Resource Recovery
Stage 06
The final stage is the disposal or reuse of the treated sludge. If it meets certain safety standards, it can be used as a soil conditioner or in agriculture. Otherwise, it needs to be disposed of in a safe and environmentally friendly manner, such as in a landfill.
Sanitation in India is key to achieving improved public health and enhanced Socio-Economic outcomes. With over 4000 urban cities declared open defecation free it is equally critical to put our efforts towards the safe collection, treatment and disposal of all human waste that is collected from onsite sanitation systems in order to achieve safe sustainable sanitation for all.
Banka Bio Limited offers Eco Friendly and sustainable solutions in treating Human waste. We took an initiative in developing a technology of its own towards the treatment of Faecal Sludge and Septage.
We have installed a Pilot plant at Sanitation Resource park in Warangal, Telangana State with a designed capacity of 10 KLD. The Plant in no time is applauded by industry experts, Scientists and Social Entrepreneurs as one of its kind.
Another plant for the state of Andhra Pradesh was successfully installed in Rajam, Srikakulam with a designed capacity of 15 KLD. We have bagged orders for establishing FSTPs for Urban Local Bodies in the state of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana respectively and are under Execution phase. With our expertise in the Waste management field, we want to be a Significant contributor for a cleaner India and ensure our future generations also enjoy the freedom in a cleaner environment.
